Estate Administration and Probate

Posted in: Practice Areas » Estate Administration & Probate

Administering an estate can be very challenging without the assistance of an experienced attorney.  At McNichol, Byrne & Matlawski, PC, our estate attorneys will guide you through all aspects of probate and estate administration after the death of a loved one.   The Executor or Administrator of the Estate is responsible for administering the estate.  Some of the responsibilities of administration include:

  • Probate;
  • Collecting the Deceased's information and assets;
  • Valuing the assets;
  • Paying the Deceased's debts and final expenses;
  • Filing the necessary tax returns which may include Income tax returns, Inheritance tax returns, Federal Estate tax returns and Gift tax returns;
  • Safeguarding the assets until distribution;
  • Distributing the assets; and
  • Closing the Estate.

We will work with the Executor or Administrator of the Estate to carry out the final wishes of the deceased and to satisfy of the legal requirements associated with estate administration.
